Cambodia Welcomes More Than 1.24 Million Foreign Visitors In First Two Months


Over 1.24 million international tourists visited Cambodia during the first two months of this year, according to the Ministry of Tourism’s latest statistics.

The figure shows an increase by 9.3 percent compared to the same period in the previous year, it pointed out.

The Chinese remained at the top of the list of foreign arrivals in the Kingdom with 418,572 visitors, up 31.7 percent. The Vietnamese ranked second with 124,266 visitors, up 1.7 percent, followed by the Laotians with 86.505, up 13 percent, the South Koreans with 72.867, down 19.6 percent.

Most of the international tourists have visited four main potential areas, including Phnom Penh capital and the surrounding areas; Siem Reap province, home to the famous Angkor temples; coastal areas; and eco-tourism areas.

Last year, Cambodia attracted some 6.2 million international visitors and this year, the Kingdom is expected to welcome around 6.6 million foreign tourists.
