Cambodia To Host the UPF Asia Pacific Summit in November


Cambodia will host the Universal Peace Federation Asia-Pacific Summit in Phnom Penh on Nov. 19-20, 2019, according to the Cambodian Premier’s Assistant H.E. Eang Sophalleth.

This information was made known after the meeting here this morning between Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and a visiting delegation of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) led by its Founding Chairman H.E. Jose de Venecia Jr.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed thanks to ICAPP and H.E. Jose de Venecia Jr., also Chairman of ICAPP Standing Committee, for supporting Cambodia as the 2nd nation to host the UPF summit after being successfully held in Nepal last year.

UPF is a global network of peace builders, and the first UPF Asia-Pacific Summit was held in Katmandu, Nepal from Nov. 30 to Dec. 3, 2018.

Attending the summit in Nepal were more than 1,500 participants, among whom were 500 international delegates representing 45 nations. The Prime Mnister of Nepal, H.E. KP Sharma Oli, welcomed six other Heads of State/Government as well as many former heads of state/government: Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia; H.E. Ms.Aung San Suu Kyi, State Counsellor of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar; H.E. Baron Waqa, President of the Republic of Nauru; Hon. Maria Leonor G. Robredo, Vice President of the Republic of the Philippines; etc.
