PM Hun Sen and Lt. Gen. Dy Vichea File Separate Lawsuits Against Sam Rainsy to the French Court

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and Lt. Gen. Dy Vichea, Deputy Police Chief and the Premier’s son-in-law, have lodged separate complaints against Sam Rainsy, former opposition leader, for public defamation of an individual, to the French court.

According to two separate press releases, the lawsuits were filed through their lawyers – BROSSOLLET, DOYEZ, and LEICK.

They reproached him for the content of the messages posted on his Facebook page and the interview given to VOA Khmer in which he made both foolish and serious accusations against them.

Sam Rainsy had accused the Premier of killing or masterminding the assassination of Hok Lundy, former Commissioner-General of the National Police of Cambodia, of ordering the murder of Chea Vichea, and of lying about the cause of Hok Lundy’s death.

For his part, Lt. Gen. Dy Vichea, Hok Lundy’s son, has decided to file the lawsuit after Sam Rainsy stated on his Facbebook page that the former believed that his father was murdered by Samdech Hun Sen, and abusively accused him of ‘taking revenge’ on this so-called assassination and, in so doing, of drawing up a plan by allying himself with the interior minister.
