Nearly US$70 Million Collected from Angkor Entrance Ticket Sales in First Eight Months

Cambodia generated a total of US$69.46 million from the sale of entrance tickets to the Angkor Archaeological Park during the first eight months of this year.

The figure was shared by the Angkor Enterprise, the state-owned institution in charge of Angkor income management, in yesterday’s press release.

The income represents a decrease of nearly 12 percent compared to the same period last year, pointed out the same source, adding that entrance tickets have been sold to some 1,551,836 foreign visitors.

Of the total generated income, approximately US$3 million was donated to the Cambodia Kantha Bopha Foundation to support the operation of Kantha Bopha Children’s Hospitals.

In August 2019 alone, the Angkor Archaeological Park attracted in total 158,124 foreign tourists, down 21.67 percent compared to August 2018, bringing in over US$7 million, a decrease of 21.50 percent.
