Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 9 – Cambodian Foreign Affairs Minister Prak Sokhonn, on Thursday, replied a letter to Michael R. Pompeo, US Secretary of State, for the congratulatory message to the people of Cambodia on the 65th anniversary of independence.
“The message of the The Honorable Pompeo gives us a renewed hope that the United States of America will help the Cambodian people in this forward march all the while mindful and respectful of the spirit for Cambodia’s independence and sovereignty,” Minister Prak Sokhonn wrote in the letter.
According to the US Department of State’s press statement released on Wednesday, US Secretary of State said, “On behalf of the Government of the United States of America, I wish to extend congratulations to the people of Cambodia on the 65th anniversary of your independence on November 9.”
“We share your hope for the development of a free, prosperous, democratic, and just society,” he added.
