Cambodia Receives 1.28 Million Foreign Tourists in First 11 Months


Number of foreign arrivals dropped by 78 percent in the first eleven months of 2020 to 1.28 million, according to the Ministry of Tourism.

The ministry’s figures show that the declining number of tourists in Cambodia has started since January 2020, when the world was facing the coronavirus crisis.

Of the total number, 322,459 were Chinese tourists accounting for 25 percent, followed by Thai and Vietnamese tourists, representing 15.4 percent and 14.1 percent with 201,038 and 181,835, respectively.

Some 746,133 foreign visitors entered Cambodia by air while the rest via land and waterways, the report added.

Siem Reap province, the country’s most attractive tourism destination, received some 400,000 foreign tourist from January to November 2020.

The report also stated that in the same period, the outbound Cambodian tourists was recorded at 324,208, a year-on-year decrease of 82 percent.

In 2019, the Kingdom welcomed 6.6 million foreign visitors, up 6.6 percent compared to a year before.
