PM and Spouse Get Booster Dose

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and his spouse, Samdech Kittipritpundit Bun Rany Hun Sen this morning received the 3rd jab against the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Today, [I] got the 3rd dose or booster dose with my beloved wife,” said the Premier on his official Facebook page.

Nearly 780,000 people across the country have so far obtained the booster dose, added Samdech Techo Prime Minister, affirming that the 3rd dose will be administered to everyone.

At a press conference after the signing ceremony of six bilateral documents between Cambodia and China here at the Peace Palace last Sunday, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said China will donate three million more doses of COVID-19 vaccines to Cambodia, which will be used as booster doses.

According to the Premier, almost one million people have received their 3rd jab, and Cambodia has already received 2 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines and 3 million more will arrive soon as well as the 3 million doses to be donated by China. Therefore, Cambodia needs to buy only 3 million more doses for the 3rd doses of 12 million people.

Cambodia has currently some 29.6 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines from purchases and donations: 7.8 million doses of Sinopharm, 19 million doses of Sinovac, 1,739,000 doses of AstraZeneca, and 1,064,600 doses of Johnson & Johnson.

As of Sept. 13, for the target of 10 million adults, 9,758,198 people have obtained their first jab, or 97.58 percent, among them 8,638,525 have been fully vaccinated.

For the children-youth aged 12 to under 18 years old, 1,712,455 or 87.06 percent of the nearly two-million target have received their first dose, while 995,737 already got their second dose.

If we add all the figures, Cambodia has so far vaccinated about 71.69 percent of the total population of 16 million.
