PM Warns of Worse Situation with Resurgence of COVID-19

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has announced the discovery of new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) after Cambodia has declared zero COVID infection for 52 days in a row.

According to his special voice message last night, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said that new cases have been found on those inside the country, those applying for COVID-free certificates and those returning to the country, via PCR and rapid tests.

“Without thorough measures, our country would return to a worse situation,” warned the Premier, urging his compatriots to continue carrying out the health safety rules, particularly the Three Dos, Three Don’ts and to get the booster doses to avoid the family, community and institutional transmission.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also advised the Ministry of Health and relevant authorities to follow closely the resurgence to prevent serious contamination.

Since the first outbreak in late January 2020 in Preah Sihanouk province, Cambodia has registered 136,262 confirmed cases of COVID-19, of which 133,204 have recovered, but 3,056 lost their lives.
