Cambodia Seeks More Support from UNDP


Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has sought support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to its development efforts.

According to H.E. Kao Kim Hourn, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister, during their meeting at the UN headquarters in New York on Sept. 22, on the sidelines of the 77th Session of the General Debate of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Samdech Techo Hun Sen told UN Administrator H.E. Achim Steiner that Cambodia is boosting its mine-free policy to achieve by 2025; the country therefore needs UNDP’s support.

Samdech Techo Prime Minister also asked UNDP to support the ASEAN Green Deal proposed by Cambodia as the ASEAN Chair this year.

For his part, H.E. Achim Steiner lauded Cambodia’s achievements so far and reaffirmed UNDP’s commitment to continue assisting the Kingdom in its development process. He said UNDP will continue to help developing countries, including Cambodia, in enhancing their investment attraction strategies.

The UNDP administrator expressed his satisfaction with the partnership with Cambodia in landmine and UXO clearance.

H.E. Achim Steiner welcomed the ASEAN Green Deal, stressing the need to work together for the effectiveness of this wise policy.
