Government Launches Phnom Penh Logistic Centre Project

The Royal Government of Cambodia has launched the Phnom Penh Logistics Centre (PPLC) project, which will play an important role in strengthening connectivity and improving the efficiency of multimodal transport in the country and the region.

The launching ceremony was held here late last week under the presidency of H.E. Dr. Aun Pornmoniroth, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, H.E. Sun Chanthol, Senior Minister and Minister of Public Works and Transport, H.E. Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Singapore, as well as many officials and representatives of the private sector.

Undertaken by Singapore-based HCH Group, the largest logistics and supply chain provider in Asia, the PPLC will be for development of logistics hubs for multimodal transport in the country.

The PPLC will plays an important role not only in strengthening Cambodia’s trade connectivity in the region and among the Greater Mekong Subregion, but also in improving the efficiency of multimodal transport, including roads, railways, waterways, ports and air transport in Cambodia, H.E. Dr. Aun Pornmoniroth underlined.

“It will create an efficient ecosystem, reduce transportation costs, improve competitiveness, and promote regional economic growth,” he said.

H.E. Dr Vivian Balakrishnan said that Singapore is committed to cooperating with Cambodia on projects in transportation and logistics to strengthen and expand the two countries’ long-standing diplomatic ties.
