PM Urges Further Agricultural Processing to Enhance Domestic Value-Added Products

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has boosted further agriculture processing to enhance domestic value-added production to supply local market and export.

While presiding over the graduation ceremony of the National Polytechnic Institute of Cambodia held here on Monday, the Prime Minister said that Cambodia has potential agricultural products namely cashew nut, rubber, sugar cane, and rice.

Cambodia’s capacity of processing agricultural products is still limited, which requires effort and investment from various partners, he added.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen said he always informed foreign investors to pay attention to the investment in the processing industry, as the Kingdom is rich in raw materials.

“We have to boost domestic processing not only to supply local demand and export, but also to generate jobs for Cambodians,” the Premier said. “Cambodia will be one of the main contributors of processed agricultural products.”

The Royal Government has identified three target provinces to develop Agri-Food Industrial Parks, aiming to promote the agricultural production in Cambodia.

The three provinces selected for the establishment of industrial zones are Battambang, Kampong Speu and Kampong Thom.
