H.E. Pich Rithi, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Commerce of Cambodia, received here at the ministry on Nov. 1 visiting Dr. Beh Swan Gin, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Singapore.
During the meeting, H.E. Secretary of State congratulated Dr. Beh Swan Gin on his appointment as the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Singapore and expressed his appreciation for the excellent relations and cooperation between Cambodia and Singapore.
The two sides also exchanged views on economic and trade cooperation between the two countries to further expedite the progress of the negotiation of a Digital Economic Framework Agreement and, in particular, the favourable environment for trade, business, and investment aimed at promoting better bilateral trade.
During his official visit to Singapore on June 18-19, 2024, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, and his Singaporean counterpart H.E. Lawrence Wong highlighted the fact that Singapore is among the largest investors in Cambodia and the complementary nature of the two economies.
The two Prime Ministers agreed to encourage relevant public and private entities of both countries to jointly identify potential areas for win-win cooperation, starting with food production and supplies.
According to the National Bank of Cambodia, from 2018 to 2023, Cambodia had attracted a total of US$48.4 billion foreign direct investment, while Singapore is the third largest investor, behind China and South Korea.
