Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet this morning expressed his hope that the eastern shores of the Mekong River will see more development in the near future as Phnom Penh capital.
Addressing the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of “Mekong Quay” city, a joint development project between TP Moral Group and Khun Sea Group in Kandal province, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet noted that the development in the western shores is seemingly full, therefore this trend will be extended to the eastern part.
“[…] As I used to check, I found that the western shores have been full with high-rise buildings, but the eastern part still has farmland […],” he said.
Samdech Thipadei Prime Minister expressed his optimism that after there is the connection from the west to the east, the progress and development will boom.
“I hope the eastern shores of the Mekong River will develop from an agricultural to a service and industry hub of Cambodia,” he said.
According Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, besides Cambodia-Korea Friendship Bridge that will link Arey Ksat city of Kandal province to Phnom Penh capital at the Night Market, the Royal Government is also considering more connection projects including another bridge, overwater or underwater, linking the new satellite city in Arey Ksat to Koh Norea area in Phnom Penh.
To be ready for the progress, Samdech Thipadei Prime Minister encouraged all stakeholders to well prepare the eastern shores’ public infrastructures, green area, etc. while the western part which is an old city is difficult to extend it.
The “Mekong Quay” satellite city will contribute significantly to making Arey Ksat a smart city for the present and the future, and a rich collection of economic, commercial and residential activities with a well-organised town, good aesthetics, a clean environment, surrounded by rivers.
