The Cambodian Prime Minister has briefed the visiting director of the Asia and Pacific Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Cambodia’s key reforms for sustainable and resilient growth and welcomed the agency’s continued cooperation.
Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet received Mr. Krishna Srinivasan, the IMF regional director, on Dec. 17 here in Phnom Penh.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet informed his guest that the Royal Government has rolled out necessary reforms, aiming to stimulate sustainable economic growth in Cambodia.
Some of the key reforms, he said, include mechanisms and policies to promote a competitive investment and trade environment and resilience of the domestic supply chain.
Big investment is being made in the development of skilled workers, including in new technology, to build a strong pool of workforce to respond to domestic and international markets.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet spoke highly of the important role of the IMF in supporting and contributing to the process of socio-economic development of Cambodia to date and appreciated its intention to expand cooperation with Cambodia.
Mr. Krishna Srinivasan commended Cambodia’s solid work and remarkable growth achieved.
He also thanked the Royal Government of Cambodia as well as ministries and institutions for their good cooperation with the IMF and underscored the agency’s interest in expanding its partnership with Cambodia in maintaining the country’s financial strength and human resource development.
