IFC Regional Vice President Meets with Key Partners in Cambodia


Mr. Riccardo Puliti, Regional Vice President for Asia Pacific of IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, paid a visit to Cambodia from Dec. 15 to 17, 2024, during which he met with key partners to discuss the cooperation between Cambodia and IFC.

In Phnom Penh, Mr. Puliti was received by Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia; Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, H.E Aun Pornmoniroth; and Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia H.E. Sun Chanthol.

According to a press release, during the meetings, Mr. Puliti discussed various topics, including the macroeconomic and fiscal situation in Cambodia in relation to the region, and private sector development to drive the country’s sustainable and inclusive economic growth.

The IFC regional vice president also met with development partners and other stakeholders, including the Cambodian Microfinance Association (CMA) and the Association of Banks in Cambodia (ABC).

Among other topics, the discussions covered how the private sector can play a larger role in Cambodia’s inclusive and sustainable economic development, and how IFC can support organisations such as CMA and ABC to strengthen Cambodia’s financial sector by promoting responsible lending, advancing financial consumer protection practices, and expanding green finance initiatives to provide more funding for small and medium enterprises and foster financial inclusion.
