Ministry of Commerce Seeks Inputs for Roadmap Development on Green Trade Standard

Minister of Commerce H.E. Mrs. Cham Nimul presided over a validation workshop here on Jan. 20 on roadmap development for green trade standards, rules of origin and double transformation.

The workshop was attended by officials from relevant ministries and institutions, representatives from development partners and foreign embassies to Cambodia, NGOs, and private sector.

“The roadmap will serve as a practical guide for strengthening trade readiness, focusing on promoting sustainable trade practices, strengthening value chains, and ensuring market access for Cambodian exports,” she said.

H.E. Minister emphasised the importance of balancing between priority sectors and long-term sustainability on the path toward the graduation from Least Development Countries (LDC) status, particularly toward an upper middle-income economy by 2030 and high-income nation by 2050.

H.E. Mrs. Cham Nimul recommended guidance for consideration in completing this roadmap, focusing on compliance and consistency with Cambodia’s efforts to adhere to and implement global trade rules, the important role of public-private partnership mechanisms in boosting private investment, and strengthening financial stability.

She encouraged all stakeholders to actively participate in the discussions to ensure that the roadmap is comprehensive, implementable, and in line with Cambodia’s context and objectives.
