Information Minister Urges Siem Reap to Boost Local News Coverage, Combat Fake News


Cambodia’s Information Minister H.E. Neth Pheaktra has called on the Siem Reap Provincial Information Department to increase its production and dissemination of news about the province’s potential, in order to provide the public with comprehensive information and combat the spread of fake news.

Speaking during a meeting with officials and staff of the Siem Reap Provincial Information Department on Jan. 30, H.E. Minister Neth Pheaktra emphasised the importance of focusing on positive news related to the achievements and efforts of the provincial administration and relevant departments in serving the people in all sectors.

The minister praised the Siem Reap Provincial Information Department for its significant achievements in 2024 in managing information and audiovisual content in the province, including its contribution to organising the media sector and strengthening the implementation of the Code of Professional Ethics for Journalists.

He also commended the department for its active participation in producing and disseminating information, as well as its efforts to clarify public opinion on various issues related to Siem Reap province.

H.E. Neth Pheaktra urged the leadership and staff of the Siem Reap Provincial Information Department to be proactive, active, and interactive in managing their information and public relations, and to serve as an effective advisory body to the provincial administration in the field of information and public opinion.
