The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, and the World Food Programme (WFP) have discussed the government’s continued support to sustain the school feeding programme.
The discussion took place between H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, and Ms. Claire Conan, WFP Country Director in Cambodia, in Phnom Penh on Feb. 4.
H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron reaffirmed that the government will continue to support the WFP in implementing the school feeding programme for 2024-2028 and spoke highly of the WFP’s contribution to carrying out the work smoothly.
The programme plays a key role in supporting the government’s vision to develop the strong intellectual and physical ability of Cambodian children to excel in their studies.
Meanwhile, the utilisation of local agricultural produce under the programme helps enhance the community’s economic growth and build a sustainable, prosperous, and inclusive society, said the minister.
Ms. Claire Conan appreciated the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports for the good cooperation with the WFP in carrying out the programme so far, considering it a wise and efficient investment in Cambodia’s human resource development.
