H.E. Dr. Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC), received here on Feb. 24 a courtesy call from H.E. Vanlalvawna Bawitlung, newly appointed Indian Ambassador to Cambodia, at the NBC, Wat Phnom Building.
During the meeting, H.E. Dr. Chea Serey highlighted the good relations between the Royal Government of Cambodia and the Government of India, and shared insights into the progress of the Cambodian economy, trade, and financial system, including the joint development of a cross-border payment system between Cambodia and India, which will facilitate instant payments between Cambodian tourists in India as well as Indian tourists visiting Cambodia.
In addition, she also informed her guest about the favourable conditions in Cambodia for Indian investors, especially peace and political stability, and direct flights between Phnom Penh and New Delhi.
She requested H.E. Indian Ambassador to help promote and encourage Indian investors, especially financial institutions, to seek investment opportunities in Cambodia.
For his part, H.E. Vanlalvawna Bawitlung said that investing in Cambodia is an opportunity that Indian investors should not ignore, especially in the rapidly developing banking sector.
He praised Cambodia’s modern payment system with high technology and fully supported the cross-border payment connection between the two countries, which will contribute significantly to promoting tourism as well as the economies of both countries.
