Cambodia, WHO Optimistic of 9th Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum on Global Health

The President of the Cambodian National Assembly (NA) appreciates the World Health Organisation (WHO) for joining hands with Cambodia to host the 9th Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum on Global Health in 2026, which she believes will yield global health benefits.

Samdech Moha Rathsapheathika Thipadei Khuon Sudary highlighted her impression of the forum when receiving a visiting WHO delegation accompanied by WHO Representative to Cambodia Dr. Marianna Trias at the NA Palace on April 1.

The delegation came to Cambodia to participate in the Regional Parliamentary Seminar on “Demographic Changes and Non-Communicable Diseases: Policy Responses to Challenges for Active Citizens and Youth,” hosted by the Cambodian NA on Mar. 31.

Samdech Khuon Sudary was confident that the NA’s 8th Committee, headed by H.E. Lok Kheng, will work closely with WHO and relevant partners to productively organise the 9th Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum on Global Health.

The forum serves as a valuable platform for parliamentarians to exchange insights, develop policies, enhance capacity, and promote cooperation for sustainable health action across the world.

Dr. Marianna Trias echoed the optimism, highlighting emerging priority health issues, including participatory grassroots health care service provision, climate change-driven health concerns, and mental health problems.
