Japanese AIWA Language Institute to Open School in Phnom Penh, Boosting Cambodian Education

The AIWA Language Institute of Japan has announced plans to establish a new school in Phnom Penh, aiming to bolster Cambodia’s education sector and create enhanced employment opportunities for Cambodian students.

The initiative, designed to provide students with the skills necessary to work in Japanese companies both domestically and in Japan, was unveiled by Mr. Takahashi Fumiaki, President of the Japan-Cambodia Association, during a meeting with H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth, and Sports of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

During the meeting held at the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports headquarters on April 1 afternoon, Mr. Takahashi sought guidance from the Deputy Prime Minister on the effective implementation of the project.

In response, H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron welcomed the proposal, emphasising its significance in expanding educational opportunities for Cambodian youth. He highlighted that the AIWA Language Institute, a joint project of the AIWA Institute and the Japan-Cambodia Association, will offer not only Japanese language training but also essential courses in information technology (IT) and other vocational skills that are currently in high demand.

“This initiative will empower Cambodian youth by creating pathways to well-paying jobs both within Cambodia and in Japan,” stated H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron.

The Deputy Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the Japan-Cambodia Association for their ongoing support of Cambodia’s education sector, and commended Japanese companies and institutions for their commitment to investing in the country’s human resource development.

He encouraged continued collaboration on similar projects, aligning with the Cambodian Royal Government’s vision to enhance workforce capabilities.
