Cambodia Pledges Commitment to ASEAN Unity at 60th COCI Meeting in Jakarta


A high-level delegation from the Kingdom of Cambodia participated in the 60th Meeting of the ASEAN Committee on Culture and Information (ASEAN-COCI) in Jakarta, Indonesia today, reaffirming its dedication to fostering regional unity in the digital age.

The Cambodian delegation, comprising officials from the Ministry of Information and the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, was spearheaded by H.E. Prak Thaveak Amida, Undersecretary of State for the Ministry of Information and Cambodia’s Representative.

During the meeting, H.E. Prak Thaveak Amida delivered a comprehensive presentation on the key outcomes achieved under Cambodia’s leadership, focusing on the progress of the COCI’s two main bodies: the Sub-Committee on Culture (SCC) and the Sub-Committee on Information (SCI).

The SCI highlighted significant regional advancements in key areas crucial for modern governance, including digital governance initiatives, the expansion of media and information literacy programmes, and improved cross-border media cooperation among member states.

The SCC reported notable successes in the preservation of cultural heritage, the promotion of creative economy opportunities, and collective efforts to strengthen and articulate ASEAN’s unique regional identity.

H.E. Prak Thaveak Amida used the platform to underscore Cambodia’s substantial contributions during its recent mandate as Chair and host of the 59th ASEAN-COCI meeting.

He specifically emphasised the country’s resolute commitment to leveraging culture and information as foundational tools for strengthening ASEAN solidarity and resilience in a rapidly evolving digital environment.

The Undersecretary of State acknowledged that the successful completion of Cambodia’s mandate was a collective achievement, made possible by the robust participation of all ASEAN member states and dialogue partners. He praised their joint efforts to enhance sectoral cooperation and to expand support for regional funding mechanisms that underpin COCI’s critical projects.
