Phnom Penh Municipal Governor H.E. Khuong Sreng on Wednesday accepted a wave of private and state donations earmarked for Cambodian troops and civilians displaced by escalating border hostilities with Thailand.
The relief effort, comprising food, medical supplies, and cash, follows recent incursions by Thai forces into Cambodian territory.
The aid is destined for frontline positions and temporary shelters in Preah Vihear and Oddar Meanchey provinces.
“This collective effort demonstrates the humanitarian spirit and national solidarity of Phnom Penh’s residents,” Governor Sreng said during the handover ceremony at the City Hall.
The list of contributors reflects a broad cross-section of Cambodian society, ranging from local administrations and the Rural Development and Agriculture Bank to private firms like Techsun and Kim Huoy Seng Ltd. Market committees from O’Russey; Tuol Tompoung and Phsar Chas also delivered contributions, underscoring the high level of public mobilisation under the Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet’s administration.
The Phnom Penh Municipal Administration confirmed it will remain an active collection hub for further donations as the border situation evolves.
