Ministry of Tourism (MoT) is stepping up its digital transformation efforts as it seeks to better engage younger travellers and strengthen the country’s competitiveness in the regional and global tourism market.
Speaking at a meeting held on Jan. 13 with the Ministry’s Spokesperson Team and Media Working Group, Minister of Tourism H.E. Huot Hak said digital technology has become a critical driver of tourism development, particularly in reaching Gen Z and Gen Alpha audiences.
“The use of digital technology to promote Cambodia’s tourism sector at the present time has truly helped accelerate the development of tourism, making it more dynamic and responsive to the needs of the new generations,” the Minister said.
The meeting reviewed progress on previous digital initiatives and outlined next steps, including clearer task assignments, implementation timelines and future work plans.
During the meeting, H.E. Huot Hak instructed technical teams to accelerate several priority initiatives. These include the establishment of dedicated teams to respond more efficiently to official emails, the faster development of a digital administrative document storage system, the creation of a central media server for data storage and sharing, and the launch of official Facebook pages for all departments under the Ministry’s three General Departments.
