Cambodia’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) have committed to deepening their partnership to modernise the nation’s farming sector, focusing on climate-resilient “modern farming communities” and high-value exports.
In a meeting in Phnom Penh on Tuesday, H.E. Prak David, Secretary of State for the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries, met with Yasmin Siddiqi, the newly appointed Country Director of the ADB for Cambodia, to align strategic priorities for 2026 and beyond.
The discussions centred on reviewing existing joint projects while accelerating the development of new initiatives aimed at transforming Cambodia from a subsistence farming economy into a competitive exporter.
H.E. Prak David urged the ADB to scale up support for “modern agricultural communities.” This model emphasises structured production plans that are linked to buyer markets before seeds are even planted.
The Ministry characterised the meeting as “highly productive,” noting that both parties reached a consensus on the need for high-efficiency implementation of ongoing projects.
