A cyclo ride event from Phnom Penh to Stung Treng city, Stung Treng province, was organised on Mar. 1 under the presidency of H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism.
Held under the slogan “Giving Hope to Cambodian Cyclos,” the event aimed to celebrate the 2026 National Clean City Day and support a tourism promotion activity jointly organised by the Stung Treng Provincial Administration and the Provincial Department of Tourism under the theme “Stung Treng – More than Rivers, More than Ordinary.”
According to the Ministry of Tourism, the initiative highlighted Stung Treng province’s unique, diverse, and attractive tourism potential, while also demonstrating continued support for the Cambodia Cyclo Association.
The early-morning event was attended by H.E. Huot Hai, Deputy Governor of Phnom Penh; leaders and officials from the Ministry of Tourism; the Head of the Stung Treng Provincial Department of Tourism; representatives of the Phnom Penh Department of Tourism; Ms. Long Sokhuy, President of the Cambodia Cyclo Association; and around 100 cyclo drivers.
Addressing the gathering, H.E. Huot Hak referred to the congratulatory message issued on Feb. 28 by Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, on the occasion of the 2026 National Clean City Day.
The message called on all sectors, authorities at all levels, local administrations, residential communities, tourist sites, and tourism communities nationwide to prioritise cleanliness, aesthetics, quality services, and warm hospitality. These efforts, the message noted, reflect Cambodia’s potential and prestige on the international stage and aim to attract tourists from around the world to experience the Kingdom’s rich and diverse tourism offerings.
In addition, H.E. Huot Hak underscored the high-level attention given by Cambodia’s top leaders to the Cambodia Cyclo Association since 2018, including both financial support and moral encouragement for cyclo drivers.
