OIF Secretary-General to Visit Displaced People Along the Border


Secretary-General of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF), H.E. Ms. Louise Mushikiwabo, will visit displaced Cambodian people along the border, according to H.E. Chea Thyrith, Spokesperson of the Senate.

The planned visit was announced by H.E. Ms. Louise Mushikiwabo during her courtesy call on Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Acting Head of State, at the Senate’s Solidarity Palace in Phnom Penh on Monday morning.

On the occasion, H.E. Ms. Louise Mushikiwabo expressed her appreciation to Cambodia for its commitment to host the 20th Francophonie Summit, scheduled to be held in Phnom Penh on Nov. 15–16, 2026.

The visiting OIF Secretary-General also commended Cambodia’s preparations for the summit, particularly the logistical arrangements, including the Techo International Airport, which will welcome leaders from OIF member countries attending the event.

For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen spoke highly of H.E. Ms. Louise Mushikiwabo’s forthcoming visit to the displaced people, stressing that it clearly demonstrates her stance in supporting peace and her opposition to war.

The Acting Head of State also conveyed a message through H.E. Ms. Louise Mushikiwabo to the leaders invited to the upcoming summit, reassuring them that Cambodia’s border dispute with Thailand will not affect the successful organisation of this important international event.
