Cambodia’s Minister of Post and Telecommunications H.E. Chea Vandeth held talks with ASEAN Secretary-General H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn in Phnom Penh on Wednesday afternoon, focusing on regional digital cooperation, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence initiatives.
The meeting took place at the Ministry’s headquarters during H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn’s visit to Cambodia for the Cambodia-ASEAN Business Summit 2026.
H.E. Chea Vandeth briefed the ASEAN chief on Cambodia’s progress in digital government reform, citing the 2025 Digital Government Forum, the rollout of community technology centres and efforts to strengthen digital skills development.
He highlighted two flagship platforms: VERIFY.GOV.KH (http://verify.gov.kh/), a government document verification system, and the DG SuperApp, an integrated digital public services platform. The Minister said the verification system has been recognised as a global digital public good and has drawn interest from neighbouring countries exploring potential adoption.
H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn welcomed Cambodia’s advances in digitalisation, particularly the development of the verification platform and the DG SuperApp, and voiced support for sharing such digital solutions with other ASEAN member states and dialogue partners.
He also stressed the importance of expanding community technology centres to improve digital literacy at the grassroots level.
Both sides discussed broader regional cooperation, including joint work on artificial intelligence under ASEAN frameworks, cybersecurity collaboration and preparations for a forthcoming ASEAN Digital Technology Exhibition.
The two officials reaffirmed their commitment to closer cooperation between Cambodia’s Ministry of Post and Telecommunications and the ASEAN Secretariat, as Southeast Asian nations accelerate digital integration efforts.
