The Royal Government of Cambodia has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the families of fallen soldiers while continuing to pursue a peaceful resolution to the Cambodia-Thailand border situation.
Speaking at a press briefing at the Office of the Council of Ministers on Tuesday, Royal Government Spokesperson H.E. Pen Bona said the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, remains attentive to the welfare of families whose relatives sacrificed their lives in defending the nation.
He noted that First Lady Lok Chumteav Dr. Pich Chanmony Hun Manet on Mar. 9 handed over a newly built house to the families of fallen soldiers in Kampong Chhnang province, along with financial assistance, household items and food supplies.
The spokesperson said the government has introduced various support measures for families of fallen military personnel, including livelihood assistance, rehabilitation programmes, scholarships for children up to university level, and debt restructuring. Authorities are also considering establishing a special fund to further assist these families.
H.E. Pen Bona also stressed that Cambodia continues to strictly observe the ceasefire and agreements reached with Thailand, reaffirming the Kingdom’s commitment to resolving border issues through diplomatic and peaceful means.
Cambodia maintains a firm stance in defending its internationally recognised borders in accordance with international law and historical treaties, while rejecting any attempt to alter the boundary through the use of force.
