Cambodia has reaffirmed its commitment to sharing experiences and continuing its efforts with the World Health Organisation (WHO) to end tuberculosis (TB).
The commitment was highlighted by H.E. Prof. Chheng Ra, Minister of Health, while receiving Dr. Mariana Trias, WHO Representative to Cambodia, in Phnom Penh on Mar. 12.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed preparations for the World TB Day 2026 celebration and an online talk show, scheduled to take place on Mar. 18 under the theme “Yes! We Can End Tuberculosis.”
H.E. Prof. Chheng Ra emphasised that Cambodia has achieved significant progress in combating tuberculosis thanks to the close cooperation between the Royal Government and national and international development partners.
He noted that Cambodia’s efforts in TB control have been recognised by the WHO, with the Kingdom regarded as a model country in the global fight against tuberculosis.
For her part, Dr. Mariana Trias praised the Ministry of Health for its remarkable progress and active role in international cooperation, including within the Francophonie framework, particularly as Cambodia prepares to host the Francophonie Summit in Phnom Penh later this year.
She also highlighted the importance of Cambodia’s participation in the World One Health Summit, scheduled to be held in April in Lyon, France.
