Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Prak Sokhonn has reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to strengthening ties with Brazil during a meeting with H.E. Ms. Susan Kleebank, Secretary of Asia and the Pacific at Brazil’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The meeting took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Phnom Penh on Mar. 19, on the occasion of H.E. Susan Kleebank’s working visit to Cambodia to co-chair the Second Bilateral Consultations between the two foreign ministries.
H.E. PRAK Sokhonn warmly welcomed the Brazilian official and expressed satisfaction with the growing momentum of Cambodia-Brazil relations. He highlighted the successful outcome of the Second Bilateral Consultations held on Mar. 18, noting that the discussions produced concrete and encouraging results to further expand cooperation.
Key areas of cooperation include trade and investment, tourism, agriculture, renewable energy, agro-processing, demining, education, environmental protection, and parliamentary relations.
For her part, H.E. Ms. Susan Kleebank expressed her pleasure at the positive trajectory of bilateral ties and reaffirmed Brazil’s commitment to deepening cooperation in areas of shared interest. Both sides exchanged views on enhancing collaboration and reiterated their commitment to supporting each other in bilateral and multilateral frameworks, aiming to promote prosperity and development for their peoples.
During the meeting, H.E. PRAK Sokhonn also briefed the Brazilian side on recent developments regarding the Cambodia-Thailand border issue and expressed appreciation for Brazil’s support for ceasefire efforts and the peace process.
The two sides also discussed regional and international issues of mutual concern.
