Cambodia’s Education Minister Bolsters Schools in Remote Border Regions

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, visited Techo Hun Sen Choam Ksan High School on Wednesday to distribute aid and reaffirm the Royal Government’s commitment to stabilising education in the country’s remote border areas.

The visit to the Choam Ksan district, situated in the northern province of Preah Vihear, underscores a strategic push to bridge the educational gap between urban centres and rural frontiers. During the ceremony, the Deputy Prime Minister met with school administrators, teachers, and students, delivering essential supplies and acknowledging the challenges of maintaining academic standards in isolated regions.

Preah Vihear Governor H.E. Kim Rithy praised the Royal Government’s prioritisation of human resource development within the province. “The provincial administration remains committed to supporting these initiatives to ensure that the quality of local education continues to rise,” H.E. Kim Rithy said.

Minister Dr. Hang Chuon Naron expressed gratitude to educators for their resilience, particularly those operating in areas historically impacted by conflict and border instability. He urged provincial education departments and teaching staff to maintain their focus on border-zone schooling, citing it as a critical component of Cambodia’s long-term human capital strategy.
