Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Hun Many on Tuesday presided over a Khmer New Year celebration and outreach event with displaced families in O’Chrov district, Banteay Meanchey province, underscoring the Royal Government’s emphasis on social solidarity and peace.
The event, held at a temporary displacement site within Chan Sy Samaky Ratanaram pagoda in Kob commune, brought together local residents, youth volunteers and officials in a festive yet compassionate atmosphere ahead of the traditional New Year holiday.
In welcoming remarks, Provincial Governor H.E. Oum Reatrey praised H.E. Hun Many’s presence as a strong gesture of support for vulnerable communities, noting it offered encouragement to displaced families preparing to mark the holiday under difficult circumstances. He highlighted the visit as a reflection of national unity and a commitment to leaving no citizen behind.
H.E. Hun Many who serves as Minister of Civil Service and President of the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC) conveyed greetings from Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, stressing that peace remains the foundation enabling Cambodians to celebrate together and maintain social cohesion nationwide.
He reaffirmed that the Royal Government and the UYFC would continue to support displaced communities, emphasising that such gatherings aim to restore morale, foster connections between youth and affected families, and promote resilience. He encouraged attendees to remain hopeful and to participate in rebuilding their communities.
Following the formal remarks, H.E. Hun Many joined participants in traditional Khmer games and cultural activities, in a display of close engagement that highlighted unity and inclusiveness.
He also distributed food supplies and financial assistance to help ease living conditions for displaced families ahead of the New Year festivities.
The event served not only as a celebration of Cambodia’s cultural heritage but also as a demonstration of the leadership’s outreach to vulnerable groups and a reminder of the enduring importance of national unity underpinned by peace.
