Cambodia, AIIB Reaffirms Strong Development Partnership

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet on Wednesday received H.E. Ms. Zou Jiayi, President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), during her visit to Cambodia.

During the courtesy call at the Peace Palace, H.E. Ms. Zou Jiayi commended Cambodia’s achievements and rapid development, and praised the Royal Government for setting clear long-term national development goals.

She expressed appreciation to the Royal Government and relevant ministries and institutions for their continued trust and support for the AIIB.

Highlighting the AIIB’s four priority areas – climate change and clean energy, regional and cross-border infrastructure connectivity, technology-enabled infrastructure development, and private sector development – she noted that these align closely with Cambodia’s development vision.

She reaffirmed that Cambodia is an important strategic partner and that the AIIB remains committed to strengthening cooperation and supporting development projects in the Kingdom.

In response, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet extended a warm welcome to H.E. Ms. Zou Jiayi and congratulated her on her appointment as President of the AIIB.

The Prime Minister expressed confidence that under her leadership, cooperation between Cambodia and the AIIB will continue to grow stronger and yield fruitful outcomes.

He underscored that the AIIB’s priority areas are in line with Cambodia’s development strategies and key sectors. The Royal Government, he noted, aims to increase the share of renewable energy to 70 percent by 2030 and has introduced policies to promote the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs), contributing to the country’s long-term carbon neutrality goals.

At the same time, Samdech Thipadei emphasised the need for further improvements in the logistics and energy sectors to enhance Cambodia’s competitiveness at both regional and global levels.
