Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Acting Head of State of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received H.E. Pang Chee Wee, newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore to Cambodia, for the presentation of his credentials at the Senate’s Solidarity Palace on Thursday morning.
According to H.E. Chea Thyrith, Spokesperson of the Senate, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, in the name of His Majesty the King, congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment and noted that his prompt arrival reflects Singapore’s strong commitment to its relations with Cambodia.
H.E. Pang Chee Wee expressed his appreciation for the audience and highlighted the long-standing friendship between Cambodia and Singapore, recalling that both countries celebrated the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2025. He noted that frequent high-level exchanges have continued to strengthen the close ties between the two nations.
The Ambassador reaffirmed his commitment to further enhancing bilateral relations during his tenure, particularly in the areas of diplomacy, trade, economy, and investment. He emphasised efforts to encourage more Singaporean investment in Cambodia and to deepen practical cooperation between the two countries.
He also underlined the importance of promoting people-to-people exchanges, especially through tourism, to further strengthen mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of Cambodia and Singapore.
In response, Samdech Techo Hun Sen welcomed the Ambassador’s commitment and expressed satisfaction with the steady progress of Cambodia-Singapore relations. He highlighted the significance of continued high-level visits, citing recent exchanges between the Prime Ministers of both countries as a reflection of their strong partnership.
Samdech Techo expressed appreciation for Singapore’s contributions to Cambodia’s development, particularly in human resource training, and voiced confidence that bilateral cooperation will continue to expand for the mutual benefit of both nations.
On this occasion, Samdech Techo also touched upon the Cambodia-Thailand border issue, thanking Singapore for its contribution, particularly the dispatch of observers to monitor the situation. He reaffirmed Cambodia’s position of maintaining an effective and lasting ceasefire and its continued openness to resolving the issue peacefully through dialogue and existing bilateral mechanisms.
