The Japanese government handed over 10 additional garbage trucks to Cambodia’s Ministry of Environment on Monday, aiming to strengthen waste management capabilities at the local administration level.
The vehicles were delivered under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects, commonly known as the “KUSANONE” scheme.
The handover ceremony, held on Monday morning, was presided over by Cambodian Environment Minister H.E. Dr. Eang Sophalleth and Japanese Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Ueno Atsushi.
H.E. Dr. Eang Sophalleth thanked the Japanese government and people for their continued support, noting that the donation directly supports Cambodia’s “Circular Strategy on Environment 2023–2028,” which prioritises cleanliness, green growth, and sustainability.
He added that the new trucks will bolster the Ministry’s efforts to improve public sanitation through education and behavioral change, bringing the country closer to its vision of a “Clean Cambodia.”
