Tourism Ministry and ASEAN-China Centre Reaffirm Commitment to Boosting Chinese Arrivals

The Ministry of Tourism (MoT) and the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) have reaffirmed their commitment to jointly driving the growth of Chinese arrivals to Cambodia.

The commitment was made during a meeting held in Phnom Penh on April 27 between H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, and ACC Secretary-General H.E. Shi Zhongjun, at Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel & Residence in Phnom Penh.

During the meeting, both sides shared the view that tourism is a key pillar in realising a “Cambodia-China Community with a Shared Future” in the new era – emphasising high-quality, high-level, and high-standard cooperation across all seasons.

The two parties agreed to further strengthen practical, in-depth cooperation to attract more Chinese tourists, enhance people-to-people exchanges, and promote active engagement throughout 2026.

These efforts align with the ongoing collaboration between the MoT, the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia, the private sector, and relevant institutions. This is further bolstered by the high-level decision of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, to authorise a pilot visa exemption for Chinese citizens. Under this initial phase, Chinese visitors may stay in Cambodia for up to 14 days during a four-month period from June 15 to Oct. 15, 2026, coinciding with Cambodia’s “Green Season.”
