Cambodia Hosts International Financial Inclusion Forums


The National Bank of Cambodia (NBC), in collaboration with the Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI), is hosting two international forums focused on advancing financial inclusion, bringing together policymakers and financial sector experts from across the globe.

The forum features of two major meetings -the 33rd Financial Inclusion Data and Impact Working Group (FIDIWG) Meeting and the 28th Financial Inclusion Strategy Peer Learning Group (FISPLG) Meeting, which are being held in Phnom Penh from June 22 to 25.

H.E. Dr. Chea Serey, Governor of the NBC was presided over the opening ceremony of the forum with presence of Dr. Eliki Boletawa, Director of Policy Programmes and Implementation at AFI.

According to NBC, the meetings brought together representatives from 38 AFI member countries, with the participation of more than 100 delegates.

The meetings served as important platforms for strengthening international cooperation and sharing experiences in data collection and utilisation, impact measurement, and the development of effective financial inclusion strategies.

They also promoted evidence-based policymaking and the implementation of national financial inclusion strategies to expand access to inclusive and sustainable financial services.

On this occasion, international delegates will visit the National Museum of Cambodia, the Preah Srey Içanavarman Museum, and the Royal Place to explore Cambodia’s rich cultural heritage.

The visits also highlighted the evolution of the nation’s monetary history and the development of its macroeconomic system from ancient times to the present day.
