Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet has called for constructive dialogue based on sound reasoning and genuine intentions, saying that the Royal Government welcomes all those willing to contribute to the national cause with clear arguments and a commitment to the national interest.
The Prime Minister made the remarks on Wednesday while presiding over the 11th National Gathering with Achar and Acharini from across Cambodia at the National Institute of Education in Phnom Penh.
“If you speak with reasons and arguments, not have to agree with the Royal Government; we welcome it as long as there are clear and reasonable arguments,” he underlined, stressing the importance of facts and reasoned discussion.
Samdech Thipadei said anyone genuinely willing to contribute to the national cause through constructive and reasonable efforts is welcome, regardless of whether their views align with those of the government.
At a time when Cambodia is facing an invasion, the Prime Minister also called for dialogue and national unity, emphasising the importance of genuine commitment and mutual respect.
“I want to send a message to everyone: I want dialogue and national unity at a time when there is an invasion. If there is genuine willingness and mutual respect, I welcome everyone,” he said.
He stressed that issues should be addressed through dialogue and compromise, guided by reason, genuine commitment and a focus on the national interest.
Samdech Thipadei also explained the role of H.E. Ms. Kem Monovithya, daughter of former opposition leader H.E. Kem Sokha, who was recently appointed as a Special Envoy of the Prime Minister by Royal Decree.
He said H.E. Ms. Kem Monovithya would assist the Royal Government, particularly in investment promotion and border-related matters, citing her extensive network of contacts and potential to contribute to the national interest.
The Prime Minister said the appointment should be viewed within the broader context of promoting a culture of dialogue, national reconciliation and cooperation for the benefit of Cambodia.
Cambodia needs people willing to contribute constructively, regardless of their background, provided that their efforts are based on genuine intentions, sound reasoning, mutual respect and the national interest, he underlined.
