Cambodia, China Deepen Legislative Cooperation


Cambodia and China have vowed to deepen cooperation between their legislative bodies, boosting the traditional ties of friendship and solidarity.

The commitment was made in a virtual meeting on Aug. 26 between Cambodian First Vice-President of the National Assembly H.E. Dr. Cheam Yeap and H.E. Wang Chen, Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China.

The meeting was aimed to strengthen of relationship and cooperation, as well as to  exchange views between the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China.

It was also to express their commitment to continue to maintain and promote the traditional friendship that has been firmly built by the previous generation of leaders to become more solid and last long in continuing the mutual support between the two parliamentary institutions.

The discussion was of great significance showing the continued strengthening and expansion of friendly relations, traditional solidarity and good cooperation between the two countries, H.E. Dr. Cheam Yeap said.

“Today’s meeting further testifies to the importance of the relationship and cooperation of the two legislative bodies, of which China is a strategic partner and iron-clad friend of Cambodia,” he stressed.

H.E. Dr. Cheam Yeap also extended profound thanks to the Chinese government and people for their assistance – vaccines and medial material and equipment – to Cambodia in the fight against COVID-19.
