National Assembly Endorsed Secretariat of Civil Aviation Draft Law

The Cambodian National Assembly (NA) unanimously approved the draft law on the establishment of the Secretariat of Civil Aviation to leverage its service.

The approval was granted during an NA plenary session on Oct. 9 chaired by H.E. Dr. Cheam Yeap, NA Acting President.

Once effective, the law is expected to better manage Cambodia’s aviation, particularly promoting its potential to promote tourism, trade, and investment.

Cambodia’s civil aviation is also overlooking the country’s four international airports: two 4E airports in Siem Reap and Koh Kong provinces, one 4F airport in Phnom Penh capital, and another airport being upgraded to 4E in Preah Sihanouk province.

The Secretariat of Civil Aviation of Cambodia was established on Jan. 24, 1996.

Therefore, its operation needs to be strengthened and expanded to respond to the current situation, as Cambodia is ambitiously pursuing its short-, medium-, and long-term socioeconomic aspirations, which are more resilient and sustainable.
