Japan Holds Two-day Trqvel Fair in Phnom Penh

Japan National Tourism Organisation (JNTO) held the 6th Japan Travel Fair (2024) at AEON Mall 2 (Sen Sok) in Phnom Penh to introduce Japan’s different tourist attractions in Japan in order to attract more Cambodian people to visit Japan.

The two-day event was held on Dec. 9 under the presidency of H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism and H.E. UNEO Atsushi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Cambodia.

Mr. NAKASUGI Hajime, Executive Director of the JNTO in Bangkok; and Mr. KAWAKAMI Akio, General Manager of AEON Mall Sen Sok City were present on the occasion with the participation of representatives from Japanese, Cambodian, and Singaporean travel agencies; well-known Japanese beverage and sake producers; and a large number of attendees.

According to H.E. Huot Hak, through the Japan Travel Fair, organised annually since 2017, Cambodian people have the opportunity to learn about Japanese culture, traditions, arts, and various tourist destinations. At the same time, the JNTO
and Japanese travel agencies can observe Cambodia’s stable political, peaceful, secure, and public safety environment, which supports growing Japanese investment and tourism. This allows them to develop new travel packages for Japanese tourists to visit Cambodia and further enhance investment cooperation.

Additionally, H.E. Minister highlighted that Cambodian people always remember and express gratitude for Japan’s assistance and support in rebuilding Cambodia after achieving full peace. Cambodians deeply respect, admire, and warmly welcome Japanese people due to the shared characteristics of humility, politeness, mutual respect, and friendliness between the two nations.

Furthermore, he added, Cambodian people enjoy Japanese cuisine and prefer using Japanese products for their high quality and reasonable prices.
