Senate President Thanks Chinese Foreign Affairs University for Supporting Peaceful Resolution of Cambodia-Thailand Border Issue

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has expressed his appreciation for the role of the China Foreign Affairs University (CFAU) in supporting a peaceful resolution to the border issue between Cambodia and Thailand.

The appreciation was conveyed during a courtesy call and working discussion with Prof. Gao Fei, President of CFAU, at the Senate’s Solidarity Palace on Thursday, according to H.E. Chea Thyrith, Spokesperson of the Senate.

During the meeting, Samdech Techo Hun Sen viewed the visit of the CFAU delegation to Cambodia as contributing to the further strengthening of the “ironclad friendship” between Cambodia and China.

Prof. Gao Fei spoke highly of Cambodia’s rapid development and transformation, noting that the country’s progress has taken place under the leadership of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, as former Prime Minister, and subsequently under Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, the current Prime Minister.

Prof. Gao also highly praised Cambodia’s peace and stability, describing them as important factors underpinning the country’s development.

He explained that the CFAU delegation’s current visit was aimed at organising Track II diplomacy, which he said could make an important contribution to exchanges of views, particularly in supporting a peaceful resolution to the Cambodia-Thailand border crisis.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen welcomed Prof. Gao’s remarks, particularly his first-hand observations of Cambodia’s development and progress.

He also spoke highly of the current Cambodia-China relationship, describing it as an all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership and a shared future community in the new era.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen further expressed his appreciation for CFAU’s role in organising Track II diplomacy, while thanking China more broadly for its participation in supporting the peaceful resolution of the Cambodia-Thailand border issue.
