Japan will donate ten more waste collection trucks to the Cambodian Ministry of Environment in support of its “Cleanliness” campaign.
The Grant Contract was signed here at the Ministry of Environment on Dec. 23 between H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Minister of Environment, and H.E. Ueno Atsushi, Japanese Ambassador to Cambodia.
The waste collection trucks will be deployed to ten district/cities in seven provinces. Previously, Japan has provided 20 waste collection trucks to targeted city/district administrations to contribute to improving waste collection services in Cambodia.
Addressing the function, H.E. Ueno Atsushi said this project will contribute to protecting the public health and natural environment, which will improve the quality of life for over 820,000 residents in the ten districts/cities in seven provinces.
H.E. Eang Sophalleth underlined that the signing of the Grant Contract between the Ministry of Environment and the Embassy of Japan in Cambodia is another new step in contributing to environmental protection, both in terms of comprehensive policy preparation and joint implementation for more effective management of urban solid waste.
“Cleanliness” is one of the three pillars of Cambodia’s Environmental Chakra Strategy 2023-2028. The other two center around greenness, and sustainability.
