The Cambodian Ministry of Health and GE HealthCare are intensifying their partnership to modernise the nation’s healthcare infrastructure and introduce advanced medical technologies.
This commitment was underscored during a consultative meeting on April 29 between H.E. Prof. Chheang Ra, Minister of Health, and a delegation from GE HealthCare, headed by Dr. Rajan Kalidindi, Head of Strategy and Market Development.
The primary focus of the meeting was to build upon the existing successful collaboration, particularly in enhancing cancer and chronic disease treatment capabilities and integrating cutting-edge medical technologies across Cambodia.
H.E. Minister Chheang Ra lauded the significant progress achieved through the ongoing partnership with GE HealthCare, especially highlighting the positive impact of the Memorandum of Understanding in modernising medical equipment and advancing healthcare technology at Calmette Hospital in Phnom Penh. He also acknowledged GE HealthCare’s crucial role in providing specialised training programmes for Cambodian healthcare professionals.
In response, Dr. Kalidindi expressed GE HealthCare’s enduring commitment to Cambodia’s health sector since the inception of their cooperation. He outlined the company’s future strategic direction, which includes expanding training initiatives not only at Calmette Hospital but also extending to provincial and municipal health departments.
GE HealthCare reaffirmed its dedication to supporting Cambodia’s healthcare advancement by introducing state-of-the-art medical equipment and comprehensive human resource development programmes. These joint efforts are strategically aimed at aligning Cambodia’s healthcare system with international medical standards, ultimately improving service delivery and enhancing the quality of patient care nationwide.
H.E. Prof. Chheang Ra conveyed his strong satisfaction with the close and productive collaboration with GE HealthCare, emphasising the shared long-term vision between the ministry and the company. He expressed confidence that this continued partnership will significantly bolster national healthcare capacities, facilitate the adoption of advanced medical technologies, and provide essential high-quality training to meet the evolving health needs of the Cambodian population.
