Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet Reaffirms Cambodia’s Openness to All Investors

Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, has reaffirmed the country’s openness and readiness to welcome foreign investors, highlighting the government’s ongoing efforts to maintain an attractive investment climate.

The Premier made the remarks this morning in Preah Sihanouk province while presiding over a ceremony alongside H.E. Xu Kunlin, Governor of China’s Jiangsu province, to congratulate the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone (SSEZ) on reaching a new milestone of 200 operating enterprises.

“Cambodia, including SSEZ, welcomes investment from all countries, ,” said Samdech Thipadei, noting the presence of enterprises from the United States, France, Japan, and other nations, in addition to China.

He further emphasised that, in response to the continued support from voters for the Cambodian People’s Party, the Royal Government remains committed to attracting more foreign investment and creating jobs for the Cambodian people.

“To enhance employment opportunities and improve livelihoods, the Royal Government of Cambodia maintains a friendly foreign policy toward all countries—not only China, but also the United States, Japan, and others,” he stressed.

Speaking on the development of the SSEZ, the Prime Minister praised its significant contribution to Cambodia’s socio-economic growth.

According to official data, the total trade volume of enterprises operating within the SSEZ reached a record US$4.07 billion in 2024, marking a 21.3 percent increase year-on-year.

The SSEZ, covering an area of 11 square kilometres, is a joint venture between Chinese and Cambodian investors and serves as a flagship project under China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

Samdech Thipadei further underscored the strong ties between Cambodia and China, noting that China consistently supports Cambodia across various sectors, especially in economic and political domains. He reiterated Cambodia’s support for the “One China” policy.
