H.E. Dr. Chea Chanboribo, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Cambodia to the Republic of Bulgaria, officially presented his credentials from His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni to H.E. President Rumen Radev of the Republic of Bulgaria on June 3.
During the ceremony, Ambassador Chea Chanboribo underscored Cambodia’s steadfast commitment to deepening and expanding relations between the two nations. He highlighted significant potential for increased cooperation across various sectors, including trade, investment, tourism, and cultural exchange.
The newly-nominated Ambassador emphasised Cambodia’s rich cultural heritage as a key to fostering greater people-to-people connections. He expressed optimism that Cambodia’s vibrant traditions would attract more Bulgarians to visit the Kingdom, reciprocal to Cambodian citizens being encouraged to explore Bulgaria.
“Cambodia is eager to share its historical and cultural narratives with the Bulgarian people,” H.E. Dr. Chea Chanboribo stated, noting Bulgaria’s shared interest in strengthening cultural ties, given its own profound and diverse cultural legacy.
The Ambassador also stressed the crucial role of effective diplomacy in building trust, enhancing cooperation, and fortifying the friendship between Cambodia and Bulgaria.
He affirmed Cambodia’s dedication to promoting Bulgarian culture within the Kingdom, aiming to reinforce mutual understanding and a shared vision for a peaceful, stable, and prosperous future.
In response, President Rumen Radev acknowledged the enduring friendship and cooperation between Bulgaria and Cambodia, which spans over half a century. He reiterated Bulgaria’s commitment to strengthening political dialogue and broadening partnerships in vital areas such as economy, trade, tourism, culture, and education.
President Radev warmly welcomed Ambassador Chea Chanboribo’s appointment, recognising his extensive familiarity with Bulgaria’s history, people, and culture—a knowledge gained during his time as a student in the country. He also extended warm regards to Cambodian alumni who studied in Bulgaria and expressed keen interest in welcoming more Cambodian students in the future.
