Cambodia’s First Tourism Vocational School Set for Soft Opening in Late June

The first Tourism Vocational School in Cambodia is set to hold its soft opening on June 27, 2025, following the completion of its campuses, which are now nearly fully equipped.

Progress on the school and preparations for its opening were discussed during a farewell meeting on June 17 between H.E. Hout Hak, Minister of Tourism, and H.E. Jacques Pellet, outgoing Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Cambodia.

According to the Ministry of Tourism, the school has two campuses. The Phnom Penh campus is located on Street 1003 in Payap Village, Sangkat Phnom Penh Thmey, Khan Sen Sok. It occupies an area of 4,000 square metres and features two buildings: a two-story front section and a four-story rear section.

The second campus is in Preah Sihanouk province, situated on Sopheak Mongkul Street, Village 2, Sangkat 2—also the site of the Provincial Tourism Department. It covers 1,775 square metres and consists of a single four-story building.

The Tourism Vocational School is supported and funded by the French Development Agency (AFD) for training in four key areas: Hotel and accommodation services, Food and beverage services, Travel services, and Tourism services.

These programmes align with both national and ASEAN standards and aim to provide affordable, high-quality vocational training. Graduates will gain industry-relevant skills to contribute to the development of Cambodia’s human resources in the growing tourism sector.

Ambassador Pellet expressed his appreciation for the support he received during his tenure, noting that his mission in Cambodia was well-conducted, with the collaboration and love of all Cambodian public and private institutions. He also reaffirmed France’s continued support to Cambodia.

In response, Minister Hout Hak thanked H.E. Ambassador Pellet for his contributions, especially regarding the establishment of Cambodia’s first tourism vocational school, and wished him success in his future diplomatic missions.
