Senate President: No Success without Sacrifice

“Please remember—there is no success or result without cost or sacrifice,” said Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, as he marked the 48th anniversary of his historic journey to overthrow the Khmer Rouge genocidal regime (June 20, 1977 – June 20, 2025).

In a message shared via social media, Samdech Techo Hun Sen reflected on the painful memories of that day. “Even though 48 years have passed, when I recall the events of June 20, 1977, my tears still flow without end. The sorrow and pain are beyond what words can describe.”

He continued, “At that time, we had only our lives to use as capital to liberate the nation and our people from the genocidal Pol Pot regime. If I had died then, what would have become of the past 45 years?”

Samdech Techo Hun Sen stated that he risked his life for the survival of the Cambodian people and the peace they enjoy today, made possible through the Win-Win Policy.

He also emphasised that he voluntarily relinquished power to ensure lasting peace and sustainable development through the transfer of leadership from the older generation to the new.
