H.E. HUOT Hak, Minister of Tourism, received here at the Shangri-La Hotel on June 19 a courtesy call from H.E. Dato’ Sri Tiong King Sing, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Malaysia, and his colleagues, to discuss strengthening and expanding tourism cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, both sides agreed on the importance of tourism, which requires peace, harmony and unity in promoting economic growth and people-to-people connectivity, and expressed their satisfaction with the excellent and proud potential of tourism cooperation until now.

Furthermore, they discussed and exchanged extensive views on strengthening and expanding cooperation by creating new tourism products, jointly organising significant and appealing tourism events, promoting more frequent direct flights connecting their tourist destinations, and fostering reciprocal visits for tourism institutions to share expertise.

They also consulted on developing Muslim-friendly tourism and arranging FAM trips for investors and tour operators, all with the goal of attracting more domestic and international tourists to the two nations.

H.E. Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Malaysia highly appreciated and valued the factors of peace, political stability and rapid development in all sectors of Cambodia, which are important foundations for strengthening and expanding tourism cooperation between both countries, as well as factors that help attract the confidence of Malaysian investors and tourists to visit and explore more investment opportunities in Cambodia.

He particularly highlighted the achievement of direct flights between the Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh and Penang, a major and important commercial city in Malaysia.

Last year, Cambodia received 94,260 Malaysian tourists, up 7.3 percent from 87,825 in 2025, according to a report of the Ministry of Tourism.
